Quality time with your four-legged friend can improve your social life, reduce stress, and help keep you active.
But when your time is consumed with cleaning fur from your apartment, it affects both you and your dog.
We've got some great tips to help minimize cleaning time allowing you more time with your pet!
Start with a proper diet. The food your dog is eating could be contributing to the amount of fur they are shedding. Excessive shedding can be a sign of skin or coat irritation or a sign your dog isn't getting proper nutrients in his or her diet. To help fend off excessive shedding, look for food that is protein rich and includes essential micronutrients and fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6.
Regularly groom your pet. Brushing and regular bathing will help keep shedding at bay. Brush your dog every few days with a pet brush and use a shedding blade or slicker brush when you need to remove mats or a dead coat. Bathe your dog once a month, or once a week if your pooch develops an itchy coat or gets stinky often. Dog baths are easy here at 66 Isabella! We have a dog washing and grooming station located in the West Tower for your convenience.
Frequently clean your apartment. The need for vacuuming and dusting multiplies when you have a pet, but when you have the right tools, you can reduce the length of time you spend cleaning. Invest in a good pet vacuum, one that will effortlessly pick up the hair. Shark, Dyson, and Bissell all make excellent pet vacuums.
Know how to lift hair in a pinch. These quick cleaning methods will help keep your apartment hair free between vacuums:
- Dryer sheets (used or fresh) act like magnets easily picking up hair from the furniture and floor.
- A lint roller will quickly remove hair from clothing and furniture.
- Rubber gloves can lift hair off upholstered furniture.
- A window squeegee will help remove hair from the carpet.
- The Swiffer Sweep + Vac is the perfect in between vacuum that picks up pet hair effortlessly.
